The dietitian in me is worried for you Wazza! Tinned tuna should be cheap? Maybe tofu? Those would be great (and cheap) sources of protein, you're on the right tack with the legumes though!
And the dietitian in you is more than right to worry. Unfortunately, tuna is out i'm afraid (vegetarian). I suspect I may need to drop the starchy cheap carbs for leafy greens.
